Ryan Reynolds Sells Mint Mobile in a $1.35 Billion Deal

Ryan Reynolds, the actor, and entrepreneur, has sold his business, Mint Mobile, to T-Mobile for a reported 1.35 billion dollars.

Mint Mobile, which Reynolds founded in 2015 with partners Peter Stanglberger and Aron Schmale, offers prepaid wireless plans to customers. In its early life, the company rose to prominence due to the star power of its founder and the competitively low prices of its plans.

The sale marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one for Reynolds. He was not available for comment at the time of this writing, but it is thought that he will use this new influx of money for future projects, which are currently unknown.

Reynolds joked,  “We are so happy T-Mobile beat out an aggressive last-minute bid from my mom Tammy Reynolds as we believe the excellence of their 5G network will provide a better strategic fit than my mom’s slightly-above-average mahjong skills,”

For T-Mobile, this is yet another move towards total dominance of the wireless market as it continues its quest to become America’s most popular mobile service provider. It remains to be seen what changes will be made now that Mint Mobile is part of their portfolio.
